1. Beatles - I can remember them on Ed Sullivan. The
first "LP" that I ever received as my own was the U.S.
"Beatles 2nd Album"..that sepiatoned wonder! That was
a revalation to me. The first time I heard "And all I
gotta do, is thank you girl, thank you girl"..I was
hooked!
2. Raspberries - listening to radio with those earbud
headphones in my bed at night when "Go All The Way"
came crashing through the atmosphere. It was almost
better than the first time my 7th grade girlfriend
touched my...........hand.
3. Buddy Holly - After I finally figured out the
Holly was a big influence on the Fabs, I began to
listen to everything Holly ever did..which was amazing
stuff. Turned me onto to a whole world of wonderful
rockabilly....Cochran, Vincent, Burnette, Riley etc
etc
4. 999 - again...the headphones on at night,
listening to some 2 hour "Rock over London" or
something show when "Homicide" nearly tore me apart!
That started me off on a whole new world of punk / pop
/ new wave. Karel Fialka (The Eyes Have It), Patrick
D. Martin (I Like 'Lectric Motors), Fingerprintz (Beam
Me Up, Scotty)...it was all wonderful! P.S. I just
heard from Keith Lucas (Aka Nick Cash) yesterday. 999
is trying organize an East Coast US tour in
April.....they are still plugging away!
5. Martin Newell - Combined jangly, happy, melodic
pop with intelligent, thoughtful lyrics.
