It is, it is! ;-)
(jus kiddin'....to each their own, of course)

I hear this often from folks - But it is to me. My favorite #1 band of all
time, have to say. Yup, before za Fab Four even. On January 10, 1975, my
13 year old brain exploded inside the complex nuances, arrangements and
free-style playing inside of the 'simple' pop songs of "Radio City".
Forever changed. And it was 94 cents at Woolworth's(I bought another desert
island LP that day.....an original "Man Who Sold The World"/Bowie for the
same price.)

And i'd put forth, that it changed me enough to put me on the path of
working in music as an adult.

And it makes me think of a possible strain. Five bands from folks' earliest
of music listening 'careers' that forever changed, shaped, molded,
influenced and enhanced your life, putting you on the road to ridiculous
expenditures on music. A bit nebulous, but possibly fun and simple one w/o
a lot of thought as it's almost an instinctive response for most.

For me, they would be:

Big Star
Be-Bop Deluxe
Iggy Pop/The Stooges
Television
The Ramones
NY Dolls(I cheated, 6!)

During those Jr. High/High School years, I can still smell releases from
these bands.

NP: Spoon "Kill The Moonlight" and Buster Heiman & The Penetrators, my high
school band(a band no one would say changed any lives, I have a sneaking
suspicion)

Peace,
Bruce @ Not Lame
