I actually saw the Farmers in Chicago in 1990... great band. Just 
kinda wandered in off the street and there the were. I don't even know 
the name of the club, but it kinda was like a big theatre (with no 
doors on the restrooms - ick). Anyway, they sounded fantastic even 
without the bass. The kick drum was tuned very open & boomy, so there 
was lots of low end. They kind of gave me a sort of hayseed-Ramones 
vibe, but I dug their rock anyway. They kept saying they were from 
Nebraska, but that may have been the schtick.
