Subject Apropos of nothing music-related (a tax question)

Sorry, but I'm figuring someone out there must have an answer to this
question.

One of the magazines to which I contribute...well, it was formerly owned by
Cellar Door Entertainment, which is part of the Clear Channel family.
Sometime during 2002, however, it was sold to Landmark Communications.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that mean that I should get a
1099 from both Cellar Door AND Landmark? Cellar Door rattles out a scripted
answer about how all applicable tax information was passed on to Landmark,
but, unless I totally don't get this (and it's highly possible), surely the
money that Cellar Door paid to me out of their budget shouldn't have any
connection to the money Landmark paid to me out of THEIR budget, even if the
company changed hands during the course of the year...which means that each
company should provide me with a 1099.

Anyway, any information anyone can provide to me will be greatly
appreciated...
