The only track on the Zombies Stereo compilation they did that to was
having original drummer Hugh Grundy come in and add the snare overdub to
"She's Not There". Grundy even used the same snare drum that he used on the
original record. It was nicely mixed into the original recording and
doesn't stick out at all.
The Who did this a couple years ago on the track "Jaguar" on the Box set,
Pete came in and added some extra guitar work. And on the Hollies "At Abbey
Road" compilations Tony Hicks came in and added guitar parts to songs that
were left unfinished in the 60's and mid 70's. Interestedly enough the
remix engineer on those CD's was Tony's son, Paul Hicks who is now a
engineer at Abbey Road.
