On a similar note, I just got to hear the import of the new release by
Puffy, "Nice."
Hey, Stuart...
I can't agree more about Puffy(as they're known in Japan).
With Andy Sturmer and Okuda writing for them it couldn't be anything but pop heaven...even if ya don't understand a word of what they're saying.
Anyone who hasn't heard them should take a listen to the samples at their site. Or, get a copy of their "Illustrated History" comp. Only one song gets a really bad re-mix makeover with a goofy "George Of The Jungle" rhythm, and samples out the wazoo, but skip it and the rest is pop genius.
Some might think their cutesy look translates to a Britney, or Christina styled pop, but nothing could be further from the truth. They rock and pop equally and sing perfectly in unison...sounds like they're double tracking, but they are?In Puffy have turned the tables on Anglo-pop and will have you singing along in phonetic Japanese.
really,
later, joe
