I just picked up the new disc by a Cincinnati band called Homunculous. It's
one of the more interesting discs I've encountered; the first three songs
are absolute gems, reminiding me a lot of Millard Powers' Semantics tunes.
The harmonies, hooks, and everything else about these songs are perfect.
From the fourth song on the album takes about a 45 degree turn, infusing a
lot of percussive and keyboard rhythms which make the songs sound kind of
like Pablo Cruise lite. There are still strong pop leanings, to be sure,
but those songs just don't quite do it for me.

Caveat aside, the first three songs on the album are definitely worth the
price of admission. Check them out at www.homunculture.com
