In the beginning the main character (Ben Stiller) is 16 and has a mouth full of braces - many clear pictures and scenes. A girl with braces is shown smiling in one short scene. Later in the movie Cameron Diaz' character talks about the main character: "He was so cute. He was so shy and clumsy, and he had his huge mouth full of metal - you know how I like braces.". Also, NFL Quarterback Brett Favre makes a cameo appearance as Mary's former boyfriend. He was still wearing braces at the time.
